Hello Kitty 2026 Stamp and Coin Cover
The Perth Mint presents the Hello Kitty 2026 Stamp and Coin Cover, featuring the globally recognised Sanrio character on an Australian legal tender coin.
Hello Kitty was created by the Japanese company Sanrio in 1974 and designed by illustrator Yuko Shimizu. Despite often being mistaken for a cat, Sanrio explains that Hello Kitty is actually a young girl named Kitty White who lives in London with her family. Over the decades, Hello Kitty has grown far beyond children's merchandise, appearing in fashion, art collaborations and theme parks to become one of the most successful fictional characters in the world.
The coloured reverse portrays Hello Kitty wearing pink overalls and the iconic red bow on her head, set against a background of stars and dots with the inscription 'HELLO KITTY'. The uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a beautifully designed card with a circular window revealing the coin's designs, accompanied by an official Australia Post stamp postmarked on the first day of issue.
