Pudding, a Beret and a Frog: Hello Kitty’s Latest Stamp and Coin Cover

If you grew up in the 1990s, there’s a good chance you owned something with Keroppi on it. A pencil case, maybe, or a sticker book.

He’s back. So is Pompompurin. Both have joined Hello Kitty on the Hello Kitty, Pompompurin and Kerokerokeroppi 2026 Stamp and Coin Cover from The Perth Mint. We have it in stock now at $37.

Meet the two friends

Pompompurin is a golden retriever. He wears a brown beret, and his main interests are napping and pudding. I’d argue that’s a very sensible way to live.

Keroppi’s full name is Kerokerokeroppi, which is a mouthful. Most fans just call him Keroppi. He’s a cheerful, adventurous frog who always seems to be up to something.

Next to Hello Kitty, the pair give this cover a different feel from the other releases. It’s softer and a bit more playful. To me, this is the most relaxed-looking of the Hello Kitty covers so far.

The coin and the cover

The coloured reverse shows all three characters together on a dotted background. Jennifer McKenna designed the reverse and Jody Clark designed the obverse.

The coin sits in a printed card with a round window, so the design is on show straight away. It comes with an official Australia Post stamp, postmarked on the first day of issue.

The details:

• $1 coin in uncirculated aluminium bronze
• 13.50g weight, 30.70mm diameter
• Issue limit of 5,150

Which Hello Kitty cover suits you?

The Perth Mint has released several Hello Kitty covers this year. Each one has a different character line-up:

• Hello Kitty on her own, for fans who want the classic look
• Hello Kitty with Cinnamoroll and Badtz-Maru, which mixes sweet with cheeky
• Hello Kitty with Pompompurin and Keroppi, which leans relaxed and fun

All three are the same price, with the same issue limit. If someone you know has a favourite character, choose the cover that features them. If they love the whole Sanrio world, buy them all and keep them together.
