Hello Kitty Brings Two Friends Along on The Perth Mint’s New Stamp and Coin Cover

Some coin releases are made for serious numismatists. This one is made for fans. I think that is exactly why it will move quickly.

The Perth Mint has released the Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll and Badtz-Maru 2026 Stamp and Coin Cover. It puts three Sanrio favourites on one coloured coin and pairs it with an official Australia Post stamp. We have it in stock now at $37.

Who’s on the coin

Hello Kitty needs no introduction. She has been around for more than 50 years and still turns up on lunchboxes, phone cases and stationery everywhere.

Cinnamoroll is the white puppy with the oversized ears. He uses them to fly, which tells you most of what you need to know about him. He’s shy and loves sweets.

Badtz-Maru is the odd one out. He’s a black penguin with a cheeky, rebellious streak. Putting him beside Hello Kitty was a smart call. It gives the design some contrast, and it gives a wider group of fans a reason to buy.

The coloured reverse shows all three characters on a dotted background, with the words HELLO KITTY AND FRIENDS. Jennifer McKenna designed the reverse. Jody Clark designed the obverse.

What’s in the pack

The coin sits in a printed card with a round window, so you can see both sides of the design without opening anything. Next to it is an Australia Post stamp, postmarked on the first day of issue. That postmark ties the item to a specific date. It’s a big part of why collectors like this format.

The key details:

  • $1 Tuvalu legal tender, uncirculated aluminium bronze
  • 13.50g weight, 30.70mm diameter
  • Issue limit of 5,150

Is it worth buying?

At $37, it’s an easy gift. It suits a child who loves Sanrio, or an adult who grew up with Hello Kitty and never really let go.

The issue limit is small for characters with a global following. Character covers often draw buyers from outside the coin world, and that can tighten supply fast. I wouldn’t leave it too long.

How we sell it

We sell at RRP. We don’t add a premium because a release is popular.

Most orders ship the same day. Every pick and pack is filmed for security. If you’re in Melbourne, click and collect from our Hawthorn office is also available.
