Most coin collectors know the moment. Someone asks if you’ve got a few coins for the parking meter. You do. They’re just in an album, sorted by year, and not going anywhere.
That’s the joke behind our new NumiStickers Numismatist Definition sticker. It costs $3.99.
A word worth owning
“Numismatist” is the proper name for a coin collector. It comes from the Greek and Latin words for coin. It’s also a word most people outside the hobby have never heard, or can’t pronounce on the first try.
That gives this sticker its appeal. It’s set out like a dictionary entry. It gives the formal definition, then admits the truth: a numismatist never has spare change, because it’s all been catalogued. It finishes with a cross-reference at the bottom, which I’ll leave for you to read yourself.
It’s the kind of humour collectors get straight away. Everyone else gets a small education.
Our own design
NumiStickers is our own sticker range, made for people who take coins seriously but not themselves. This design was on the shortlist from the start. I’m glad it made the cut.
