H.M. Queen Elizabeth II 100th Anniversary 2026 1oz Silver Proof Gilded Coin
Queen Elizabeth II was born on 21 April 1926 and became queen in 1952 following the death of her father, King George VI. Her 70-year reign was the longest in British history. She passed away on 8 September 2022, and in 2026 The Perth Mint marks the centenary of her birth with this gilded silver proof coin.
The reverse is inspired by the commemorative florin issued in 1954 for Queen Elizabeth II's first visit to Australia. It features a stylised version of that original design, with a lion and a kangaroo standing side by side as a symbol of the connection between the United Kingdom and Australia. Both figures, along with the coin's outer rim, are gilded in 24-carat gold. The inscription 'H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II 100th ANNIVERSARY', stylised dots, the 2026 year-date and The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark complete the reverse. The obverse carries the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III.
