H.M. Queen Elizabeth II 100th Anniversary 2026 1/4oz Gold Proof Coin
Queen Elizabeth II was born on 21 April 1926 and became queen in 1952 following the death of her father, King George VI. At just 25 years old, she took on a role she would hold for 70 years, making her the longest-serving monarch in British history. She passed away on 8 September 2022 and was succeeded by her eldest son, King Charles III. This coin is issued to mark the centenary of her birth.
The reverse features five effigies of Queen Elizabeth II, each taken from coins produced by The Perth Mint during her reign. Jody Clark's 2019 portrait sits at the centre, surrounded by earlier portraits by Ian Rank-Broadley (1998), Raphael Maklouf (1985), Arnold Machin (1966) and Mary Gillick (1953). The background shows Australia's golden wattle, with motifs of St Edward's Crown, the Sovereign's Orb, the Tudor rose and the Sovereign's Sceptre included in the design. The inscription 'H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II 100th ANNIVERSARY', stylised dots, the 2026 year-date and The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark complete the reverse. The obverse carries the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III.
