Australian Wedge-tailed Eagle 2026 1oz Gold Enhanced Reverse Proof Ultra High Relief Coin
The wedge-tailed eagle is Australia's largest bird of prey. With a wingspan of up to 2.8 metres, it rides thermal currents and can reach heights above 2,000 metres. Its distinctive wedge-shaped tail and feathered legs make it easy to pick out in the skies above mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Sculpted by renowned US engraver John M. Mercanti, this 1oz gold coin is struck in enhanced reverse proof quality on a concave surface to bring out the finest detail. The ultra-high relief reverse portrays a silhouette of a Wedge-tailed eagle in the foreground with a Bald eagle behind it, both gazing to the right. The inscription 'AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE', The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark, and the coin's weight, fineness and 2026 year-date complete the reverse. The obverse carries the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III.
