Depicting one of Australia's most beloved animals, this coin pays tribute to Australia's rich wildlife. Sleepy and docile, koalas spend most of their time either resting or eating gum leaves among Australia's eucalyptus forests. Admired for its plush fur and distinctive features, the koala holds a special place in Australian wildlife and culture.
The coin's reverse portrays a koala perched in a eucalyptus tree, holding a leafy branch in its mouth surrounded by native foliage, with the inscriptions 'KOALA' and The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark. The coin has been struck with an extra-deep blank to showcase its superbly detailed design in high relief, with rose gold gilding on the reverse.
