The koala is one of Australia's most recognised native animals. Found in eucalyptus forests along the eastern coast, it is known for its calm nature, rounded ears and expressive eyes. The Perth Mint's Australian Koala series has been honouring this species in gold and silver since 1986.
This 2026 coin is struck in 99.99% pure gold in proof quality. The coloured reverse portrays a koala perched in a eucalyptus tree, holding a leafy branch in its mouth and surrounded by native foliage. The inscription 'KOALA', the coin's weight, purity and 2026 year-date are included, along with The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark. The obverse carries the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III and the coin's monetary denomination.

Purchase limits
Popular releases can carry a limit per customer so more collectors get a fair go. A customer is one person, family, delivery address, email address, payment card or IP address, and the limit includes previous orders. Some limited releases need you to log in so we can count your earlier orders; others allow guest checkout.
Every order for a limited release is checked by hand. If the limit is exceeded, all orders involved may be cancelled and refunded less reasonable costs of up to 20%. See our Terms of Service and Refund Policy.
