The koala is one of Australia's most recognised native animals. Found in eucalyptus forests along the eastern coast, it is known for its calm nature, rounded ears and expressive eyes. The Perth Mint's Australian Koala series has been honouring this species in gold and silver since 1986.
This 2026 coin is struck in 99.99% pure gold in proof quality. The reverse portrays a koala perched in a eucalyptus tree, holding a leafy branch in its mouth and surrounded by native foliage. The inscription 'KOALA', the coin's weight, purity and 2026 year-date are included, along with The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark. The obverse carries the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III and the coin's monetary denomination.
