Australia Sovereign 2026 Silver Proof Coin

The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as a branch of Britain's Royal Mint, producing sovereigns from Western Australian gold. Over 106 million sovereigns were struck between then and 1931, each featuring Benedetto Pistrucci's St George and the dragon reverse. This 2026 silver proof coin brings that tradition into a new format.

The reverse shows a naked warrior on horseback with a sword raised above a dragon, set within a decorative circle of raised dots. The inscription 'AUSTRALIA', the 2026 year-date and The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark are included, along with a privy mark with the number '100' to mark what would have been the 100th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse carries the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III.
