Australia Sovereign 2026 Gold Proof Three-Coin Set
The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as a branch of Britain's Royal Mint, producing sovereigns from Western Australian gold. Between then and 1931, over 106 million sovereigns were struck, each carrying Benedetto Pistrucci's classical St George and the dragon reverse design and The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark. This three-coin set revisits that heritage with a new design across three gold denominations.
The set includes the Quarter Sovereign, Half Sovereign and full Sovereign, each with a reverse portraying a naked warrior on horseback with a sword raised above a dragon, set within a decorative circle of raised dots. The design includes the inscription 'AUSTRALIA', the 2026 year-date, The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark and a privy mark with the number '100' to mark what would have been the 100th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coins are housed in a black presentation case with a foiled coin design on the lid and come with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
