No, we do not buy coin collections. Mint Coin Shop only sells new coin products. Everything we stock is sourced directly from the various mints, including the Royal Australian Mint, the Perth Mint and the New Zealand Mint. We are a retailer of new releases, not a buyer of second-hand collections.

Where to sell a coin collection

There are reputable coin dealers across Australia who buy collections. Some specialise in certain eras or types, and some handle a bit of everything. The trick is finding one you can trust with pieces that may be worth a fair amount and mean a lot to you.

Take your time here. Do your research before you hand anything over. Look for a dealer with a long track record, clear reviews and a professional setup. A member of a recognised industry body is a good sign.

Where you can, choose someone you are able to visit in person. A face-to-face valuation lets you ask questions, watch how your coins are handled and get a proper sense of who you are dealing with. It is harder to feel confident about a collection you have posted off to a stranger.

Get more than one opinion

It is worth getting a second valuation before you sell. If a couple of dealers land in roughly the same range, you can sell with confidence. If one offer sits far below the others, you will know to walk away.

Never feel rushed. A dealer worth using will give you time to think and will explain how they reached their figure.

When in doubt, do not proceed

This is the most important point. If something feels off, if the offer seems too low, or if you simply are not sure, do not go ahead. There is no harm in pausing. Your coins are not going anywhere, and a good collection will still be valuable next month.
