A Thank You That Lasts: The 2026 Celebrations 50c Coin

The end of the school year is close. That means teacher gifts, coach gifts and thank-you cards for the people who helped out all year.

Most of those gifts get eaten, used up or forgotten by February. The Royal Australian Mint’s 2026 Celebrations 50c Coloured Uncirculated Coin is different. It’s a keepsake, it posts easily with a card, and it costs $17.50.

A familiar design with a new twist

The coin features a colourful, artistic take on the Mob of Roos design. Most Australians know it from the $1 coin, where it has appeared since the dollar coin was introduced in 1984.

Seeing those kangaroos in colour on a 50c coin is a nice touch. It feels Australian without trying too hard. One of our customers summed it up in a review: nice design. I agree.

Who it suits

The Mint designed this coin for celebrating people. That covers a lot of occasions:

• Thanking a teacher, coach, mentor or neighbour
• Marking a birthday, a graduation or a personal achievement
• Saying well done to someone who has worked hard

It can also be a thoughtful gift of sympathy. If someone in the family was a coin collector, this coin can mark a celebration of their life. That’s a quieter use, but I think it’s one of the most meaningful.

The details

The coin is a large 50c, presented in a card that’s ready to give or post.

• 31.51mm diameter
• 15.55g weight
• Uncirculated finish
• Unlimited mintage

A coin for giving, not hoarding

The mintage is unlimited, and there’s no limit on how many you can buy. That’s worth saying plainly. This isn’t a coin to buy because it might become scarce.

It’s a coin to buy because it says something to the person who receives it. If you need ten for a classroom of helpers or a sporting club, you can order ten.

We sell it at the Royal Australian Mint’s RRP, as we do with every coin.

Ordering for the end of the year

If you’re planning end-of-year gifts, order early so they arrive in time. Most orders ship the same day, and every pick and pack is filmed. Click and collect is available from our Hawthorn office in Melbourne.
