A $1 Coin for the Day You Became an Australian Citizen
A citizenship ceremony is a big day. People who have often waited years stand up and make the pledge. There are usually tears. Kids wave flags. Then everyone heads home with a certificate and, at many councils, a native plant.
I think the day deserves something more lasting. The Perth Mint's Australian Citizenship 2027 $1 Coin in Card is a good fit, and it is in stock now at Mint Coin Shop for $17.50.
What the coin shows
The reverse carries the Commonwealth Coat of Arms. That is the shield with the badges of the six states inside an ermine border, held up by a kangaroo and an emu, with the seven-pointed Commonwealth Star above. The words AUSTRALIAN and CITIZENSHIP frame the design, along with the 2027 date and the Perth Mint's P mintmark.
The obverse has the Dan Thorne effigy of King Charles III.
It is a simple design. I like that. The Coat of Arms is the national emblem, so it suits a citizenship gift better than anything more decorative would.

Who it is for
The obvious buyer is family or a friend of someone becoming a citizen. It fits inside a greeting card and costs less than a bunch of flowers. Workplaces, sporting clubs and community groups that welcome new citizens could use it too.
Because the mintage is unlimited, this is not a release you need to rush. There is no hype here, and none is needed. Buy it when the ceremony date is confirmed.
