A question we hear often: are you the Mint?

No. We are Mint Coin Shop, a privately owned Australian business. We are an authorised dealer for the Royal Australian Mint. We also hold authorised dealer relationships with the Perth Mint and with Agoro by the New Zealand Mint.

The distinction matters, so it is worth spelling out for you here on our blog.

The mints make the coins. We sell them.

As an authorised dealer, we source stock directly from each mint through official channels. Nothing grey market. Nothing secondhand. When you buy from us, you are buying a genuine new product with a clean chain of supply from the mint to our shelves to your door.

Being authorised is not automatic. Mints choose their dealers, and those relationships are built on trust and track record. We are grateful to serve several mints and to bring their new products to collectors. It is a responsibility we take seriously.

Our track record is the other half of the story. We have filled more than 40,000 coin orders. Those orders have gone to customers across Australia and overseas. Every one of them was picked, packed and despatched by our own small team, on camera, from our own premises.

We think being privately owned is a strength here. There is no distant head office. No call centre reading from a script.
