Thorin's Map and Key Arrive at Mint Coin Shop

Thorin Oakenshield could not reach the Lonely Mountain on courage alone. He needed a map to find the hidden door, and a key to open it. Both pieces have now arrived at Mint Coin Shop, struck in silver.

The Hobbit Thorin's Map and Key set is an officially licensed Hobbit Motion Picture Trilogy collectible from Agoro by New Zealand Mint. It pairs two pieces in one release, and only 1,000 sets exist worldwide.

The map

The map is a 5g foil struck in 999 pure silver. It carries Thorin's guide to the hidden passage, the one that reveals the secret door into the mountain. At 105mm by 134mm, there is plenty of room for the detail. Study it closely before you set out.

The key

The key is the second piece, struck in ¾ oz of 999 pure silver and shaped to match. It has an antiqued finish that suits its age. Once the map gives up its secret, the key opens the door. It measures 77mm by 35.8mm.

The price for the pair is $315.

Why collectors will want it

This is a Legendary Mintage release capped at 1,000 sets. Each set is individually numbered, with the number printed on the front of the foil. Your set has its own place in a small run, and the number proves it.

Both pieces carry the Public Seal of Niue, which confirms them as legal tender. The map is issued at a $1 denomination and the key at $2, both dated 2026.

The set arrives in Hobbit themed dual packaging with a display window. You can keep the map and key together and on show without ever taking them out. For a fan, that display is half the appeal.

Order yours

A run of 1,000 sets will not sit on the shelf for long. Once they sell through, that is it.
