Re-stocked: MATILDAS 2026 $2 COLOURED UNCIRCULATED COIN IN CARD
We Aussies love our sport. The Matildas have tapped into something most teams never do, genuine affection, not just support. Over fifty years, the team went from a volunteer outfit to one of the most recognised sides in world football. Along the way, they dragged women's sport into the mainstream.
The Royal Australian Mint has marked the Matildas' return to home soil with their MATILDAS 2026 $2 COLOURED UNCIRCULATED COIN IN CARD. This coin is legal tender, struck in aluminium bronze, and limited to 25,000 pieces. We have grateful to have a re-stock of this coin here at www.mintcoinshop.com.au.
The design
The reverse is busy in a good way. "MATILDAS" repeats in overlapping gold lettering, radiating out from a green and yellow centre. A player silhouette punches through the middle, surrounded by shattered fragments and confetti-style detail. It looks like a goal has just gone in.
The obverse carries the effigy of King Charles III, designed by Dan Thorne.
The coin sits in a collector card with action imagery of the team and the usual technical specs. It works equally well framed on a wall or tucked into a collection.
Who it is for
Football fans. Memorabilia collectors. People who want something more lasting than a match programme. At 25,000 units, it will not hang around.
This coin is more than just pocket change. It is a symbol of determination, passion, and national pride. You can secure this beautiful piece of sporting history to celebrate the ongoing legacy of women's football in Australia.
What a gift!
