Open the Box: The Superman 5g Silver Foil Blind Box

You don't know what's inside until you open it. That's the whole point.

The Superman: The Man of Steel Blind Box is a 5g silver foil — officially licensed DC, issued by Niue — packed in sealed Superman-branded packaging. Every box contains a foil struck in 999 pure silver. Some contain something else entirely.

The artwork centres on Superman mid-transformation: chains snapping, shirt tearing open, the emblem catching the light. It's one of the most recognisable images in comics, and it translates well to the foil format at 70mm x 110mm.

The Chase

The standard foil is proof finish with colour. The chase variant — hidden inside a small number of boxes across the 5,000 mintage — is 999 pure gold, proof finish, no colour. Same dimensions, different metal entirely.

There's no published ratio for how many gold variants exist in the run. You open the box and find out.

The standard silver foil is Niue legal tender ($1 face value). The gold variant carries a $50 face value. Both carry the Public Seal of Niue on the reverse.

Who This Is For

The blind box format appeals to DC collectors and to anyone who enjoys the mechanics of a chase. At $185 AUD, it sits at a price point where the silver foil alone is a reasonable outcome — the gold is a genuine surprise.

It also works as a gift. The Superman packaging does the presentation work. No additional wrapping required.
