Some cheaper plastics contain chemicals that react with metal and cause damage over years. Anything labelled archival or acid-free is a safer choice.

Environment matters as much as the container. Store coins somewhere cool, dry and stable. Avoid garages, sheds and window sills where heat and humidity swing about. A cupboard inside the home is usually ideal. A small silica gel sachet nearby helps control moisture.

There is also the simple joy of presentation. A well-housed collection is a pleasure to bring out and share. It looks considered, because it is. Guests handle nothing, yet see everything.

Good storage is the cheapest insurance in the hobby. The coins hold their condition, their value and their appeal, and you spend nothing on regret.
