A new $1 coin for the heart and soul of Australia
The Royal Australian Mint has released a $1 uncirculated coin for the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, and we have it in store at our www.mintcoinshop.com.au now.
The UN named 2026 the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists. If that sounds obscure, consider that rangelands cover about 75 per cent of Australia. Woodlands, grasslands, deserts, tropical savannahs. Pastoralists have worked that country for generations, and this coin honours them.
The reverse design is by Mint coin designer Adam Ball. The coin comes in a presentation card printed with original linocut artwork by Elyssa Waterford, made specifically for this release, so it displays nicely without a capsule or album.
For the collectors: aluminium bronze, 9 grams, 25mm, uncirculated finish, mintage of 40,000. That is a modest mintage for a Royal Australian Mint commemorative, and themed $1 coins in card have a habit of disappearing quickly once collectors notice them. We do not expect to be able to reorder.
Coins in card also make good gifts. They cost about the same as a card and a small present combined, they keep, and this one has a story most gifts do not. We sell plenty to grandparents starting collections for their grandkids.
Come in and have a look. If we have sold out by the time you read this, ask about our other Royal Australian Mint coins, or leave your name and we will call you if more stock arrives.
